Chico Cross Country Ski Club
The Chico Cross Country Ski Club was formed to bring Northern Californian nordic, classic, skating, telemark, recreational and backcountry skiers together.

The local Sierra Club Yahi Chapter leads ski trips -- mostly to Butte Meadows or the McGowan Lake Trails near the southwest entrance to Lassen. Please, no pets unless indicated.

 

 

Saturday-Sunday, February 12-13 - Snowshoe Backpack (grade 2, class B). Backpack with snowshoes in the Lassen Park area. Bring warm, winter wear and the usual backpack materials. Snowshoes can be rented. Call leader in advance for locations, details and meeting place. Leader: Kevin, 824-2588; co-leader: Alan, 872-0419.

Saturday, February 19 - Cross-Country Ski. Intermediate ski trip on the McGowan Trail near Lassen National Park. A car shuttle will take us to the top of the trail for a scenic, mostly downhill 10-mile trip. Ski rental near trailhead in Mineral. Bring lunch, water, appropriate clothing and equipment. Meet at Paradise Albertson's at 7:15 A.M. or Chico Park & Ride at 8 A.M. Driving distance of about 150 miles round trip. Return time about 7 P.M. Leader: Joe Dudek, 877-5647.

Saturday, February 26 - Cross Country Ski: Backcountry and Telemarking. (grade 2-3, class C-D) We're looking for good snow in the backcountry, or if conditions are just right, we'll do a two-car shuttle with 1,500 ft. of climbing and 3,500 ft. of elevation loss. Bring ski gear, appropriate clothing, lunch, water and $ for drivers. Call leader for meeting time and place. Approximate return time: 6 P.M. Leader: Larry, 342-7998.
